Safe Space has been an anchor institution for the poorest and most marginalized residents of the Far Rockaway community for over 30 years.
Long after the news cameras move on, we will remain here with our neighbors to help rebuild the broken lives of children and families who were dealing with generational poverty, underperforming schools, sky high unemployment and staggering crime rates long before this devastating storm arrived.
We are firmly focused on the future ... implementing a broader strategic trauma response that builds on the solid foundation of what Safe Space does best. Meeting the long-term emotional needs of fragile children, youth and families to help them stabilize and rebuild their lives.
