KidWise provides a holistic approach to school-based mental health services for roughly 100 students at M.S. 72 (The Catherine & Count Basie School) in Rochdale per year. Safe Space is now replicating this program at the Queens High School for Information, Research and Technology in Far Rockaway during the 2010-2011 academic year.
Licensed therapists, school staff, and parents participate in home visits, counseling and educational, enrichment and behavior modification activities focused on helping the child break down barriers to school success.
KidWise also organizes an annual "Awareness Week," which features workshops on a variety of family wellness topics, including healthy eating habits, family planning and smoking cessation.
